I noticed that many of the doors in Mediterranean had a hand shaped door knocker. I read that it symbolized a hand of Fatima. It should protect the house from evil and was also a way to show that people who lives in the house follow the Muslim faith.
For me those colorful doors gives a good spirit. As someone has said: First impressions have a lasting effect when entering ones homes.
